Donte Whitner of the Buffalo Bills gives the opening keynote address for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District's Family and Community Empowerment Conference. On Saturday, May 23, 2009 he will stand before a crowd of 800 youth, parents, and political figures such as the State of Ohio's Governor Ted Strickland, City of Cleveland's Mayor Frank Jackson, Dr. Eugene Sanders CEO of CMSD, and the Honorable Philanthropist, Actor, Author and Comedian Dr. Bill Cosby. "When asked to be a keynote speaker for the Empowerment Conference during a time when I take my annual vacation, I was honored! There was no decision to be made when asked to be a presenter in front of my community, city and state officials as well as Dr. Bill Cosby himself. I'm overjoyed and blessed to be able to have this opportunity "said Whitner. The conference will include live entertainment, special events and displays, workshops on adult literacy/dropout prevention, child social & emotional development, financial literacy, and college readiness/financial aid just to name a few. The conference will be held at the Cleveland Convention Center 500 East Lakeside, Cleveland, OH 44114. Conference begins at 8:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m.
