Donte Whitner consistently takes the community by storm with his selfless acts of giving back. It wasn't long ago that Donte was in the same spot as the 2008 senior graduates of Glenville High School. Sitting in the auditorium on Senior Honor Day, full of hopes, dreams, and the occasional weariness of what the future holds. Donte wanted to acknowledge deserving student-athletes with a scholarship that represents more than a monetary value. These scholarships were giving to student-athletes that exemplified the qualities of hard work, leadership, perseverance, and determination. It is important to recognize the importance of the impact that sports have on students but more importantly how the student-athletes demonstrate themselves as students first. Donte stated, "it's your support group that believes in you even when you don't have the courage to believe in yourself that help you overcome the many obstacles life throws at you. And for the 2008 recipients of the Donte Whitner Team 20 Scholarships, they have me as a part of their support group." 20 unexpected student-athletes received a $1,000.00 scholarship from Donte, who wears jersey number 20 for the Buffalo Bills and his Team 20 Foundation.
